# AI content verification

> Check whether a text was generated by your ShopAssist assistant, for EU AI Act transparency.

Source: https://shopassist.coec.dk/docs/api/ai-content-verification · Updated 2026-10-01

ShopAssist marks every AI-generated message. In addition, you can check whether a text came from your assistant, for example when a shopper forwards a screenshot or quote.

`POST /v1/ai-content/verify` (scope `conversations:read`)

```bash
curl -X POST https://api.shopassist.coec.dk/v1/ai-content/verify \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $SHOPASSIST_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"text":"Yes, the Nordic Wool Sweater is in stock in size M at our Aarhus store."}'
```

```json
{
  "matches": [
    {
      "conversation_id": "conv_…",
      "message_id": "msg_…",
      "store_id": "sto_…",
      "created_at": "2026-10-05T09:58:12Z",
      "similarity": 1.0
    }
  ]
}
```

## How matching works [#matching]

* The text (up to 10,000 characters) is normalized — Unicode NFC, whitespace collapsed to single spaces, trimmed — and compared by SHA-256 with the stored fingerprint of every AI message in the key's stores.
* Only exact matches are found. An edited or partial text returns no match, which does not prove it was written by a person.
* Fingerprints exist only as long as the transcript is retained (default 90 days).

See the [AI Act page](/docs/compliance/ai-act) for how ShopAssist meets the transparency obligations.
