# Shopify billing

When you install ShopAssist from the Shopify App Store, Shopify bills you. Charges appear on your Shopify invoice in USD, monthly.

## Choosing a plan [#choosing]

You start on Free. Click **Choose a plan** in the ShopAssist app in your Shopify admin to open Shopify's pricing page, pick a plan and approve the charge. Every paid plan has a 14-day free trial.

## Usage [#usage]

Managed AI conversations are reported to Shopify as usage. Conversations within your plan's allowance are free; conversations beyond it are charged at the overage rate. The overage budget defaults to **Pause AI**, because Shopify cannot cap usage charges itself.

## Invoices [#invoices]

See your charges in **Shopify admin → Settings → Billing**. ShopAssist never asks Shopify App Store merchants for a card.

## Changing or cancelling [#changes]

Change plans on the same Shopify pricing page. Uninstalling the app ends the Shopify subscription; usage up to the uninstall is billed. If you reinstall, you start on Free and choose a plan again.

## Unpaid Shopify bills [#frozen]

When Shopify freezes the subscription because a bill is unpaid, ShopAssist pauses managed AI until Shopify unfreezes it.
