> How orders are linked to conversations: items added by the assistant, checkout links, and assisted sessions with analytics consent.

Source: https://shopassist.coec.dk/docs/cart-and-checkout/attribution · Updated 2026-10-01

ShopAssist links platform orders to conversations to show the revenue the assistant helped with.

| Type | When | Consent |
| ------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------- |
| `bot_add_to_cart` | The order contains items the assistant added to the cart | Not needed (the shopper asked for it) |
| `bot_checkout_link` | The shopper used a checkout link from the chat | Not needed |
| `assisted_session` | An order within the attribution window after a conversation | Analytics consent |

The attribution window is 7 days by default; plans with a custom window allow 1–30 days (**Orders & actions → Attribution**).

## Per platform [#platforms]

* **Shopify:** a private cart attribute and the cart token on `orders/create`.
* **Magento 2, WooCommerce, PrestaShop:** the plugin records the conversation on the quote or cart and reports placed orders.
* **Generic:** store `{conversation_id}` from the checkout template or `linkConversation()` on the order and report it with [`orders:report`](/docs/install/generic/catalog-push-api#order-reports), or call `ShopAssist.track("order.completed", …)` on your thank-you page.

Order status and personal data are never part of attribution. See [assisted revenue and attribution](/docs/analytics/assisted-revenue-and-attribution) for how it's reported.
