# Inventory CSV import

> Upload stock per location as a CSV file for WooCommerce, PrestaShop and Generic stores without another stock source.

If your stock per store lives in a spreadsheet or another system, upload it as a CSV file in **Catalog → Locations → Import inventory**.

## Template [#template]

Download the template from the import card. It has three columns:

```csv
sku,location_external_id,available
SHIRT-42-BLUE,cph,4
SHIRT-42-BLUE,aar,0
SHIRT-42-RED,cph,
```

* `sku`: the variant SKU (must be unique in your catalog).
* `location_external_id`: the location's external id (from your platform, a feed or the dashboard). Unknown ids create a location you complete in the dashboard.
* `available`: a whole number, or empty when unknown.

## Modes [#modes]

* **Merge** updates the rows in the file and leaves other stock levels alone.
* **Replace** makes the file authoritative: imported levels missing from the file are removed.

The import runs as a sync run; **Catalog → Sync** shows rejected rows (unknown or ambiguous SKUs). Re-import whenever your stock changes: the assistant shows how old the information is. For frequent updates, use the [Catalog Push API](/docs/install/generic/catalog-push-api) (`inventory:batch`) instead.
