# Search preview

> Debug why the assistant finds or misses a product by running the same hybrid search it uses and reading each ranking signal.

**Catalog → Search preview** runs the same product search the assistant uses and shows the top 20 results for a query and language.

## Reading the results [#results]

Each result shows its final score and its rank in each of the three searches that are combined:

| Signal   | Finds                                                              |
| -------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| Semantic | Products whose meaning matches ("something warm for winter hikes") |
| Lexical  | Exact words and phrases, SKUs, brand names                         |
| Trigram  | Misspellings and partial words                                     |

A product that ranks well in only one signal can still come first. If a product is missing:

* check that it is synced, published and not [hidden from the assistant](/docs/catalog/product-exclusions);
* check the language: the catalog language and translations are searched;
* during the first sync, products are found by keyword first, and semantic search improves as indexing finishes;
* add missing terms to the product's title, tags or attributes in your store.
