# Quickstart

> The fastest path from sign-up to a first answer from your own catalog, per platform, ending with a test message in the playground.

Every path ends the same way: your catalog is synced, an AI model is ready, and you send a test message in the playground. Nothing is shown to shoppers until you publish the widget.

**Shopify**

Typical setup: About 2 minutes

**1. Add the app from the Shopify App Store**

Open ShopAssist in the Shopify App Store and click **Add app**. You are never asked for your myshopify domain.

**2. Approve the permissions**

Shopify shows the data ShopAssist needs (products, inventory, locations, orders for signed-in customers). Approve to install; the app opens in your Shopify admin.

**3. Activate the app embed in your theme**

In the setup screen, click **Activate in theme editor**. The theme editor opens with the ShopAssist app embed selected; switch it on and click **Save**.

Shopify stores don't sign up on the website: the app creates your ShopAssist account the first time you open it in Shopify admin. Setup, billing and settings live inside Shopify admin. Full guide: [install on Shopify](/docs/install/shopify).

**Magento 2**

Typical setup: A Composer deploy by your developer

**1. Install the module with Composer**

Run this in your Magento root. Add the optional modules for multi-source inventory (`coec/module-shopassist-inventory`), returns (`coec/module-shopassist-rma`, Adobe Commerce) and customer cancellation (`coec/module-shopassist-order-cancellation`) if you use them.

```bash
composer require coec/module-shopassist
```

**2. Enable the module and deploy**

Run the upgrade and flush the cache. In production mode also compile and deploy static content. Magento cron must run.

```bash
bin/magento setup:upgrade
bin/magento setup:di:compile
bin/magento setup:static-content:deploy
bin/magento cache:flush
```

**3. Paste the pairing code**

In the ShopAssist dashboard, create a pairing code. In the Magento admin open **Stores → Configuration → ShopAssist** at **website** scope, paste the code and click **Connect**. Connect one ShopAssist store per website.

Create the store in the dashboard first (**Add store → Magento 2**) to get the pairing code. Full guide: [install on Magento 2](/docs/install/magento-2).

**WooCommerce**

Typical setup: About 5 minutes

**1. Install the plugin**

In WordPress, go to **Plugins → Add New**, search for **ShopAssist**, then install and activate it. The plugin makes no outbound call before you connect.

**2. Connect your store**

Open **WooCommerce → ShopAssist** and click **Connect**. You are sent to ShopAssist to confirm the connection and then back to WordPress. You can also paste a pairing code from the dashboard.

**3. Switch on the widget**

After the first sync, switch on the widget in the plugin settings or in the ShopAssist dashboard. On multisite, connect each subsite separately.

Full guide: [install on WooCommerce](/docs/install/woocommerce).

**PrestaShop**

Typical setup: About 10 minutes

**1. Download the module**

Download the module ZIP from your ShopAssist dashboard. The download is behind sign-in so its version matches your account.

**2. Upload and install it**

In the PrestaShop back office open **Modules → Module Manager → Upload a module**, choose the ZIP and install it. There is no Composer step.

**3. Connect your shop**

Open the module configuration and click **Connect**, or paste a pairing code from the dashboard. With multistore, select a single shop context first, never "All shops".

Full guide: [install on PrestaShop](/docs/install/prestashop).

**Other site**

Typical setup: About 15 minutes plus a product feed or API integration

**1. Add the script tag**

Copy the script tag from **Widget → Install** in the dashboard and paste it before `</body>` on every page. Then add your storefront domains under **Allowed domains**.

**2. Choose a catalog source**

Add a product feed (Google Shopping XML, CSV or JSON, pulled at least every 60 minutes) or push your catalog with the Catalog Push API using an API key with the `catalog:write` scope. The Push API works on every plan.

**3. Optional: orders and signed-in customers**

Connect a Generic RPC endpoint for order status and actions, and mint an identity token on your server so signed-in customers can ask about their orders.

Full guide: [install on any site](/docs/install/generic).

## After connecting [#after-connecting]

### Wait for the first sync

The dashboard shows the sync progress. You can continue while it runs: products are found by keyword straight away, and semantic search improves as indexing finishes.

### Choose your AI

Start the managed AI trial (no card needed) or connect your own provider key on the Free plan. See [choose your AI](/docs/ai/choose-your-ai).

### Send a test message

Open the playground and ask something only your store can answer, for example a product question or "which stores have this in stock?". Playground conversations are never billed.

When the answers look right, work through the [go-live checklist](/docs/getting-started/going-live-checklist).
