# Uninstall and data removal

> What happens when you pause, disconnect, uninstall or delete a store on each platform, what is deleted and when.

Removing ShopAssist never leaves the widget running: it disappears from your storefront at once. Data is kept for 30 days so you can change your mind, export it or reconnect, and is then deleted.

## What is deleted [#what-is-deleted]

After 30 days, ShopAssist deletes the store and everything that belongs to it: the catalog mirror and search index, knowledge base documents and files, conversations and messages, leads, consent records, back-in-stock subscriptions, analytics events, settings and integrations. Billing records required by accounting law are kept (invoices, not conversations). Backups roll over within 30 days, and deletions are re-applied after any restore.

* **Shopify:** Shopify sends a shop data deletion request 48 hours after uninstall; ShopAssist then deletes the store's data without waiting for the 30 days. If you reinstall later, only data created after the reinstall is kept.
* **Plugins:** the plugin removes its own settings, tables and scheduled jobs from your platform on uninstall. Order notes it wrote stay on your orders.
* **Paused stores** keep their data. After 12 months paused, owners get an email; if nobody signs in within 30 days, deletion is scheduled.

## Changing your mind [#reconnect]

Reconnect or reinstall before the deletion date and everything is kept: catalog, conversations and settings. In the dashboard, **Settings → Store → Cancel deletion** does the same for a disconnected store.

## Export first [#export]

Before you leave, export your data in **Organization → Settings → Export data** (settings, knowledge, conversations, leads and analytics as JSON and CSV). There are no exit or switching fees. See [data export and switching](/docs/compliance/data-export-and-switching).
