# File uploads

> Upload PDFs, Word documents, text, CSV and Markdown files such as size charts and care guides to the knowledge base.

Upload documents the assistant should know, for example size charts, care instructions or warranty terms.

* **Formats:** PDF, DOCX, TXT, CSV, MD.
* **Size:** up to 20 MB per file. Upload several files at once; each shows its own progress.
* **Type and language:** choose a document type (`page`, `faq`, `size_chart`, `policy`, `other`) and the language for each batch.

Files are scanned for malware before processing; a rejected file shows "This file was rejected by our malware scan." Files count against your plan's file limit.

Scanned PDFs without a text layer can't be read. Export them with text, or paste the content into an FAQ.

To replace a file, upload the new version and delete the old document in **Knowledge → Documents**.
