> The 11 interface languages of the widget, how one is chosen, and how to override it from your page.

The widget interface is available in English (en), Danish (da), German (de), Swedish (sv), Norwegian Bokmål (nb), Finnish (fi), Dutch (nl), French (fr), Spanish (es), Italian (it), Polish (pl).

## How the language is chosen [#negotiation]

1. The language the shopper picked in the chat menu (kept for the tab).
2. `ShopAssist.setLocale("de")` from your page.
3. Your storefront's language from the embed (for example `data-locale="da_DK"` or the platform's language), matched to the closest widget language (`nn` and `no` → Norwegian Bokmål).
4. English.

The assistant's **reply** language follows what the shopper writes, independent of the interface language ([assistant languages](/docs/assistant/languages)).
