Languages
The widget's interface languages, how the assistant picks the reply language, and how to fix or restrict it.
Interface languages
The widget's buttons, labels and messages are available in: English (en), Danish (da), German (de), Swedish (sv), Norwegian Bokmål (nb), Finnish (fi), Dutch (nl), French (fr), Spanish (es), Italian (it), Polish (pl). The language is chosen from your platform's storefront language, then the shopper's browser, with English as the fallback. Shoppers can switch it in the chat menu; developers can call ShopAssist.setLocale().
Reply language
The assistant replies in the language the shopper writes, even if it isn't an interface language (for example Portuguese or Czech). It detects the language from each message and switches only when it is sure; Danish, Norwegian and Swedish are kept apart carefully so a short Norwegian message in a Danish conversation doesn't flip the language.
When your catalog is in another language than the conversation, product facts are translated in the reply. Product cards show your catalog's text and translations where you have them.
Settings
In Assistant → Languages:
- Automatic (default): reply in the shopper's language.
- Fixed: always reply in one language.
- Allowed languages: restrict replies to a list; other languages get a reply in your default language.
Greetings and starters can be written per language. Missing languages use the English text.
