Install on WooCommerce
Install the ShopAssist plugin from WordPress.org, connect in one click, and set up signed-in customers and stock per location.
Requirements
- WordPress: >=6.7 <=7.1 (PHP >=7.4)
- WooCommerce: >=9.6 <=11.2 (PHP >=7.4)
- Latest plugin version: 1.0.0
- HTTPS on the site, and the WordPress REST API reachable from the internet (security plugins must not block
/wp-json/shopassist/v1/). - WP-Cron or a system cron running (the plugin queues changes with Action Scheduler).
- A WordPress user with the
manage_woocommercecapability.
Install
Typical setup: About 5 minutes
1.Install the plugin
In WordPress, go to Plugins → Add New, search for ShopAssist, then install and activate it. The plugin makes no outbound call before you connect.
2.Connect your store
Open WooCommerce → ShopAssist and click Connect. You are sent to ShopAssist to confirm the connection and then back to WordPress. You can also paste a pairing code from the dashboard.
3.Switch on the widget
After the first sync, switch on the widget in the plugin settings or in the ShopAssist dashboard. On multisite, connect each subsite separately.
The plugin makes no call to ShopAssist before you click Connect. On multisite, network activation is supported; each subsite is connected separately and becomes its own ShopAssist store.
Connect
Recommended: in WooCommerce → ShopAssist, click Connect. You are sent to shopassist.coec.dk/connect/woocommerce, sign in or sign up, confirm the site address and choose or create the store. You are then sent back to WordPress, and the plugin finishes the connection with a one-time code and a proof key, so nothing secret passes through your browser.
Alternative: in the dashboard, Add store → WooCommerce → Generate pairing code, then paste the code in the plugin page. Codes are valid for 15 minutes.
If connecting fails, the plugin shows a short message with a link to the matching connection error, for example rest_blocked when a security plugin blocks the REST API.
Verify
- The plugin page shows "Connected" and the sync progress.
- The launcher appears on your storefront. It is never shown on the checkout, order-pay or order-received pages.
- In "coming soon" mode, only users who can manage WooCommerce see the widget.
Signed-in customers
Signed-in customers are recognised automatically through the plugin's WC-AJAX identity endpoint (/?wc-ajax=shopassist_identity). It is a POST endpoint that page caches don't store.
WooCommerce does not verify account emails
WooCommerce lets customers register with any email address. ShopAssist therefore matches orders to signed-in customers by customer id only, never by email, and never treats the account email as verified.
See WooCommerce identity.
Stock per location
WooCommerce has no stock per location of its own. ShopAssist supports, in this order:
- Stock Locations for WooCommerce: detected automatically; each location becomes a store with its own stock.
- Meta mapping: map post meta keys that hold stock per location in the plugin settings.
- A local inventory feed or the Catalog Push API: see product feeds and Catalog Push API.
- CSV import in the dashboard (inventory CSV import).
Without any of these, the assistant says it doesn't know the stock in a specific store. Pickup locations from WooCommerce's local pickup are shown as addresses.
Updating
Update from Plugins like any WordPress plugin, or enable auto-updates. The dashboard tells you when your plugin is more than two minor versions behind.
Uninstall and data removal
- Deactivate pauses the store: the widget disappears, credentials and data are kept, and reactivating resumes it.
- Delete (uninstall) disconnects the store, removes the plugin's options, tables and scheduled actions on every subsite, and keeps order notes. ShopAssist deletes the store's data 30 days after uninstall unless you reconnect.
See uninstall and data removal.
Troubleshooting
- Optimisation plugins (WP Rocket "Delay JavaScript", LiteSpeed, Autoptimize, Cloudflare Rocket Loader) must not delay or combine the ShopAssist script. The plugin adds
data-cfasync="false"; addcdn.shopassist.coec.dkandshopassistto the exclusion list of your optimisation plugin. - WP-Cron disabled and Action Scheduler lagging
- The widget is not showing
- Content Security Policy errors
